Colorado’s election system is widely considered to be one of the best in the country—a system other states strive to emulate. Clerk Gonzalez will provide an overview of how it works, the many layers of security built in to protect your vote, and what’s going on behind-the scenes to count your ballots. She’ll also share information about what’s happening nationally with elections, emerging election threats, and answer your questions about voting rights and election integrity. You’re also invited to take a tour of the Jefferson County Election Center to see the system in action in June.

Clerk Gonzalez is an attorney and nationally recognized elections expert who was elected as Jefferson County Clerk and Recorder in 2022. She ran Colorado’s largest nonpartisan election effort in 2018 and 2020 as the executive director of Colorado Common Cause and has taught election law at her alma mater, University of Denver, to Colorado’s next generation of election attorneys. She also holds a degree in psychology/cognitive science from Occidental College and has been honored by the Colorado Hispanic Bar Association, Colorado Women’s Bar Association, and Colorado LGBTQ Chamber of Commerce for her work.
