We started GrayPAC (our own Political Action Committee––an entity with the express purpose of raising and spending money to elect and defeat candidates) to have the greatest impact on this year’s elections. We need GrayPAC because every state has different rules about what nonprofits are allowed to do for elections. Channeling our partisan electoral activity through GrayPAC prevents Third Act from possibly running afoul of government rules about what nonprofits are allowed to do and say.

We are focusing our efforts in the critical races where we think we can make the most impact. With the PAC we can favor areas with progressive voters, focus more efforts in swing states, and work toward the election of progressive candidates. GrayPAC enables us to come out strong to defeat Trump and other candidates who want to reverse all the progress we’ve made.

No, donations to GrayPAC are not tax-deductible because it is a political action committee. Your contribution is vital to our efforts to influence elections and promote policies that align with our mission––especially because we cannot legally draw on nonprofit dollars for partisan political initiatives.

ActBlue is a secure website and does not itself release information. However, it seems that some political campaigns do share donor information with other candidates and their campaigns. Third Act and GrayPAC work independently and protect our supporters. We never share donor names and contact information with other organizations.

While we primarily allocate funds based on strategic needs to maximize impact, we appreciate that some donors may have specific preferences.
