We’re adapting our strategy in response, and have listed opportunities you can sign up for to make the greatest impact this month below. (Spoiler: in October the biggest impact is knocking on doors!) Read on for info about our upcoming Silver Wave Swing State Tour and our take on the current state of play.
If you haven’t already signed up, you’ll want to make sure to join the line tomorrow evening for a special edition of our National All-In Call. Amidst the election analysis, voting stories, and a post-November outlook, you’ll get to hear Bill and Akaya interview Bill Moyers—among the best interviewers of our lifetime—about how he sees this moment.
Finally, we want to say thanks to everyone who has kicked in some money to support GrayPAC’s work so far. We’ll be too busy door-knocking from here on out to do much fundraising, so let’s make this our last call!

We are analyzing and tracking more than 70 districts around the country where November election results have the most potential to shape climate policy and safeguard democracy in the years to come.
We’ve used a handy interactive mapping tool to produce custom color-coded maps of the most impactful races in the country across the House, the Senate and the Electoral College, with an emphasis on climate champions in winnable races.
Our analysis is informed by polling, demographic shifts since the 2020 census, the guidance of local Third Act Working Group leaders, and up to the minute news on the ground. Here’s what we’re seeing:
- Montana: The Senate map is tougher than ever, and all three close races hang in the balance: Senate (Jon Tester), House (Monica Tranel), and PSC Commissioner (Independent renewable energy champion Elena Evans). We need volunteers to phone bank, canvass and spread the word to anyone in Montana. Sign up here with Montana Conservation Voters, find a local canvass with Big Sky Victory or Volunteer for Elena for PSC.
- Texas & Florida: Surprisingly competitive Senate races are nearly tied and could offset potential loss in Montana. Focusing on these Senate seats in electoral vote-rich states also keeps the map competitive, expending Trump’s energy. RSVP to phone bank in FL for Debbie Mucarsel Powell and in TX for Colin Allred from anywhere!
- Nebraska: A “sleeper” Senate race has roared awake, with polls showing independent candidate Osborn tied or leading, and Omaha’s House race is in play. Harris also leads in the crucial Electoral Vote that could break a 269-269 tie. Sign up to phone bank for Osborn for Senate!
- Hurricane Helene and North Carolina: The risk of voter suppression follows recent disaster across this troubled landscape. Groups focused on combining climate messaging with resilience aid could help turn the tide. Find resources here.
